BioDIP Seminar on Microdissection

May 31 2016, MPI-CBG: BioDIP Seminar on Microdissection

The BioDIP seminar series was established to introduce a certain microscopy technique, available within the BioDIP, to local scientists and encourage interaction and exchange of information within the community. The seminar typically starts with a short introduction to the technique followed by 2 or 3 application talks, which put their focus mainly on the technical aspects.

The seminar in May is dedicated to laser capture microdissection (LCM), a technique that allows contact- and contamination-free collection of specific tissue, cells, or subcellular structures. Possible downstream applications include DNA genotyping, RNA transcript profiling, cDNA library generation or proteomics discovery.

Currently, microdissection can be performed at two BioDIP facilities.
